Catherine Bruno

Assistant Director, Office of Integrity and Compliance

Catherine Bruno was named assistant director of the FBI’s Office of Integrity and Compliance in May 2019. As assistant director, Bruno ensures the FBI has the proper programs and procedures in place so employees comply with both the spirit and the letter of all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

Ms. Bruno joined the FBI in 2009 as the special assistant to the general counsel, advising the Bureau’s divisions on external oversight issues. She moved to a similar special assistant position in the Office of Integrity and Compliance in 2016, and was named the section chief of the office about a month later.

Before joining the Bureau, Ms. Bruno was the deputy assistant inspector general at the U.S. Department of Justice from 2002 to 2009. Prior to that, she served as an assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1996 to 2002. She also served as a law clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Ms. Bruno earned her law degree from Boston College Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College.
