VERA/VSIP FY2015 Program

The Office of Personnel Management has granted the FBI authority to offer voluntary early retirement (VERA) to a limited number of professional staff at FBI Headquarters. The authority also included the ability to offer voluntary separation incentive payments (VSIP).

The early retirement opportunity and the optional separation incentive payment are available to employees who:

  • will meet the age and service requirements for a voluntary early or regular voluntary retirement no later than the last day of the applicable retirement window;
  • have continuously served in the Department of Justice since July 30, 2013, and in a position covered by this authority since October 25, 2013, under a permanent appointment with a regularly scheduled tour of duty;
  • receive approval under one or both authorities; and
  • retire from the FBI by retirement no later than the last date of the applicable retirement window.

This program is completely voluntary. Absolutely no FBI employees will be retired involuntarily. To obtain the most accurate information, employees are cautioned to discuss this program only with authorized HRD representatives.

All employees should direct questions about the VERA/VSIP program to the HRD Call Center at (202) 324-3333.
