Office of Public Affairs - The Gary Sinise Foundation
2016 Director’s Community Leadership Award Recipient
The Office of Public Affairs honors The Gary Sinise Foundation for its work in ensuring the sacrifices of America’s defenders and their loved ones are never forgotten. One of the foundation’s most notable programs is R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment), which builds mortgage-free, specially adapted smart homes for severely wounded heroes to improve their quality of life and increase their independence. R.I.S.E. also provides injured, wounded, ill, and aging veterans with home modifications, mobility devices, and adapted vehicles. Shubert Design Furniture, this year’s honoree for the St. Louis Division, partners with The Gary Sinise Foundation to provide interior design services and furniture for each custom smart home.
FBI Director Recognizes Distinguished Community Leaders
In a ceremony at FBI Headquarters on April 28, 2017, Director James B. Comey recognized the recipients of the 2016 Director’s Community Leadership Award. These leaders, selected by their area FBI field office, have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their local communities through service. The FBI is grateful for the work of each of these individuals and organizations on behalf of their communities.
“This year’s honorees have distinguished themselves in remarkable ways through their hard work, their leadership, and their strength of character," said Director Comey. “Time and again, today's award recipients have put others before themselves.”
