Forensic Scientist / Application Scientist
— Salary: Commensurate with qualifications

Qualifications include the following:

  • BS in forensic science, chemical or biological sciences, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred
  • At least five years' work experience in a forensic laboratory performing forensic analysis
  • Memberships in forensic associations, certifications, and specialized training in the area of fingerprint examination is preferred
  • Ability to understand the principles and technology related to latent fingerprint development and questioned document examination research and evaluate spectroscopic and imaging methods and techniques
  • Ability to write technical papers for peer-reviewed publication
  • Ability to coordinate and develop working relationships with law enforcement agencies

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Managing, directing, supervising, and coordinating all activities within the Forensic Science Division of a high-technology analytical instrument company
  • Developing and overseeing applications of hyperspectral imaging technology
  • Testing latent fingerprint evidence submitted by law enforcement agencies
  • Testifying in legal proceedings when necessary
  • Maintaining current awareness involving analytical technology procedures and legal decisions involving latent fingerprint evidence and digital technology
  • Providing technical support to experienced sales staff
  • Some travel required
