- 1 The violent crime figures include the offenses of murder, rape (revised definition) and rape (legacy definition), robbery, and aggravated assault.
- 2 The figures shown in the rape (revised definition) column include only those reported by law enforcement agencies that used the revised Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) definition of rape. See the data declaration for further explanation.
- 3 The figures shown in the rape (legacy definition) column include only those reported by law enforcement agencies that used the legacy UCR definition of rape. See the data declaration for further explanation.
- 4 Includes crimes reported to sheriffs' departments, county police departments, and state police within Metropolitan Statistical Areas.
- 5 Includes crimes reported to sheriffs' departments, county police departments, and state police outside Metropolitan Statistical Areas.
- NOTE: This table does not include those law enforcement agencies that reported legacy rape for 2013 and revised rape for 2014. Because the UCR Program received only 1 year of rape data based on the newly implemented definition from these agencies, a 2-year comparison could not be provided conversely. The data and population information of those agencies that submitted either 2 years of revised rape or 2 years of legacy rape are provided in the data declaration.
