Five-Year Arrest Trends, Totals, 2007–2011

  • Overall, the number of persons arrested in 2011 decreased 12.2 percent from the number of those arrested in 2007.  The number of adults arrested declined 9.3 percent, and the number of juveniles (individuals under age 18) arrested fell 29.1 percent.
  • The number of persons arrested for violent crimes in 2011 declined 11.5 percent when compared with the 2007 number.  Arrests of juveniles for violent crimes decreased 30.9 percent for the same comparison period, and arrests of adults decreased 7.7 percent.
  • The number of persons arrested for property crimes in 2011 increased 2.8 percent when compared with 2007 data.  Arrests of adults for property crimes increased 11.1 percent, but arrests of juveniles decreased 20.2 percent.
  • Arrests for forcible rape declined 14.6 percent in 2011 when compared to the 2007 data.  Arrests of adults for robbery offenses decreased 9.0 percent, and arrests of juveniles declined 29.4 percent for the same years of comparison.
  • Arrests of persons for larceny-theft increased 8.7 percent in 2011 when compared with data for 2007.  Arrests of adults for larceny-theft rose 17.3 percent, and arrests of juveniles for this offense decreased 15.7 percent.
  • Arrests of persons for motor vehicle theft in 2011 dropped 41.0 percent when compared with the number of arrests made for this offense in 2007.  Arrests of juveniles for motor vehicle theft fell 50.9 percent, and arrests of adults decreased 37.6 percent.
