Five-Year Arrest Trends, Totals, 2006–2010

  • Overall, the number of persons arrested in 2010 decreased 9.0 percent from the number of those arrested in 2006. The number of adults arrested declined 6.6 percent, and the number of juveniles (individuals under age 18) arrested fell 22.0 percent. 
  • The number of persons arrested for violent crimes in 2010 declined 9.9 percent when compared with the 2006 number. Arrests of juveniles for violent crimes decreased 25.3 percent for the same comparison period, and arrests of adults decreased 6.8 percent. 
  • The number of persons arrested for property crimes in 2010 increased 6.7 percent when compared with 2006 data. Arrests of adults for property crimes increased 12.4 percent, but arrests of juveniles decreased 9.0 percent. 
  • Arrests for robberies declined 10.7 percent in 2010 when compared to the 2006 data. Arrests of adults for robbery offenses decreased 6.1 percent, and arrests of juveniles declined 22.3 percent for the same years of comparison. 
  • Arrests of persons for larceny-theft increased 16.4 percent in 2010 when compared with data for 2006. Arrests of adults for larceny-theft rose 21.9 percent, and arrests of juveniles for this offense increased 0.6 percent. 
  • Arrests of persons for motor vehicle theft in 2010 dropped 45.5 percent when compared with the number of arrests made for this offense in 2006. Arrests of juveniles for motor vehicle theft fell 52.8 percent, and arrests of adults decreased 43.0 percent.
