Overview
Ten-Year Arrest Trends, Totals, 2001–2010
- The number of persons arrested nationwide in 2010 decreased 2.9 percent when compared with the number of those arrested in 2001.
- The number of arrests for violent crimes in 2010 declined 9.6 percent when compared with arrest figures for 2001; the largest decrease (24.8 percent) was reported for forcible rape.
- The number of persons arrested for robbery in 2010 increased 4.5 percent when compared with 2001 arrest data.
- The number of persons arrested for property crimes increased 3.3 percent in 2010 when compared with the number of those arrested for property crimes in 2001. However, arrests for motor vehicle thefts dropped 48.3 percent in 2010 when compared to arrests for that offense in 2001.
- The number of adults arrested in 2010 increased 1.0 percent when compared with the number of adults arrested in 2001.
- The number of juveniles arrested dropped 23.5 percent in 2010 when compared with the 2001 figure.
