Advanced Comparison for Tenprint Examiners 

This course, designed to enhance and enrich the skills of the experienced fingerprint examiner, teaches the student how to apply the ACE-V Methodology to more difficult comparisons and also covers Level One, Two, and Three Ridgeology. The class benefits employees preparing to take the IAI Tenprint Certification Test.

Face Comparison and Identification Training
         

This course is designed for individuals with limited experience and at least monthly interaction with face comparisons through the use of an automated face recognition system or through laboratory analysis of photographic or video evidence. (Note: Knowledge of Photoshop software recommended).

Scientific Basics of Fingerprints – Classifying, Recording, and Comparing/Scientific Basics of Palmprints – Recording
 

This course is for anyone interested in obtaining a basic knowledge of fingerprints. Participants will learn the fingerprint pattern types and classification using the Henry and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) systems. The training, while demonstrating proper procedures to effect an identification or exclusion, will also cover techniques to record/collect legible fingerprints and palmprints, including complete friction ridge exemplars (formerly referred to as major case prints).

Universal Latent Workstation Software (ULW) Workshop

This course is designed for latent print examiners who work cases and enter latent fingerprints for search through the Next Generation Identification (NGI) using the ULW software. Some of the processes covered include: scanning a latent fingerprint; encoding minutiae points; completing ridge counts; saving to proper folders; sending to the NGI for search; and conducting comparisons of fingerprints with possible candidates returned from the NGI.

Understanding the FBI Identity History Summary – External Next Generation Identification Response 

This course provides an understanding of the FBI Identity History Summary (IdHS) generated as a result of an NGI search. Topics covered include the fields, codes, and abbreviations the FBI uses to enter data. The training also emphasizes the importance of the IdHS to both criminal and civil applicant agencies, as well as the importance of submitting dispositions to complete the FBI record. (Note: This course is NOT “Understanding the NCIC Record”—however, certain aspects of the NCIC record will be covered.)
