Wanted by the FBI

Oscar Ancrum, 06/09/09

Mr. Schiff: Hi. This is “Wanted by the FBI” from the FBI. There’s a fugitive on the run who, with his partners, allegedly defrauded people of about $10 million in mortgage fraud transactions.

Ms. Barker: “Oscar Ancrum. He faces charges of bank fraud as well as conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud.”

Mr. Schiff: FBI Special Agent Dalynn Barker in New York.

Ms. Barker: “It is alleged that Ancrum, as well as the other conspirators, used something called straw buyers to purchase more than 20 homes based upon that individual’s credit score.”

Mr. Schiff: Barker says straw buyers are people who lend their credit so someone can buy a home.

Ms. Barker: “That straw buyer typically never intends to live in the home. And the straw buyer, in this case, was paid $10,000 for their participation in the scheme.”

Mr. Schiff: Oscar Ancrum remains at large. You may be able to help find him. He often goes by the name Red or Manny. Take a look at his wanted flyer at FBI.gov. That’s “Wanted by the FBI” for this week. I’m Neal Schiff of the Bureau’s Office of Public Affairs.
