Alleged Offender in Custody; Seeking Similar Cases.
On January 3, 2009, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a white male picked-up a 44 year-old
white female at a small casino and offered to take her to a drinking establishment. While driving to the location, the
victim turned her head to light a cigarette and as she turned back toward the front, the suspect placed a knife to her throat.
The alleged offender instructed the victim to stay calm or he would hurt her. He then produced a three foot long white
zip-tie fashioned in a circle and placed it over her head, to cinch her neck to the passenger’s seat headrest.
While driving to a secluded area in the desert, the alleged offender groped the woman’s breast and told her he
would give her pills to help her relax. Once in the desert, he used wire cutters to remove the zip-tie and had the victim
throw it out the window. As they continued to travel further into the desert, they came across a police vehicle heading in
the opposite direction and were stopped. As they approached the police vehicle, the offender waved and told the victim
to tell the police that she was his wife. Subsequently, the offender was arrested for kidnapping, assault with a deadly
weapon, and attempted sexual assault.
During searches of his person and vehicle, diazepam (valium), carisoprobo (soma) and omeparzaole (stomach
antacid), a loaded .38 caliber revolver and ammunition, several knives, large white zip-ties, camping equipment,
binoculars, Tojan-Enz condoms, Gallo wine, Crown Royal, and a large industrial strength black trash bag were recovered
as potential evidence.
Background investigation revealed that the offender was involved in child sexual abuse involving pre-teen female
relatives. He has lived or visited Alaska, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Utah. The offender has
worked as a painter, a general contractor, and a pilot driver for heavy equipment.
