The FBI and its law enforcement partners are seeking additional information surrounding the robbery of the Bank of the West located at 7810 Thornton Road in Stockton, California, on July 16, 2014. It has been reported that the three armed suspects involved in the robbery were dropped off at the bank at approximately 2 p.m., in a black, four-door 1997 Buick Century with temporary paper plates. After the suspects entered the bank, this vehicle, which has been recovered, left the scene heading westbound on Hammer Lane.
As police responded, the armed suspects took three hostages and departed the bank in a stolen vehicle. A rolling gun
battle with law enforcement officers ensued which resulted in the deaths of two of the suspects and the injury of the third who used a hostage as a human shield to preserve his life. This hostage did not survive. A second hostage was also shot and thrown from the moving vehicle. The third hostage jumped from the moving vehicle.
While all of the robbers who entered the bank have been identified, the driver of the vehicle remains unidentified. Information is being sought on the driver of the vehicle and any other individuals who may have information about this crime.
