Michael Burke was arrested by the Abington, Pennsylvania Police Department on November 19, 2004, for the rape and statutory sexual assault of two young girls, aged 13 and 10. On April 4, 2006, Burke pled guilty to one count of rape and one count of aggravated indecent assault. On May 22, 2007, Burke failed to appear for his sentencing hearing and a bench warrant for his arrest was ordered. A criminal complaint was filed in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, on May 24, 2007, charging Burke with flight to avoid apprehension, trial, or punishment. A federal arrest warrant charging Burke with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 2, 2007.
