Table 2, Data Declaration

Percent Change
by Geographic Region
January-June 2006

The FBI collects these data through the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program.

General comments

This table provides the percent change in offenses known to law enforcement, by geographic region, for the first 6 months of 2005 and 2006.

Methodology

The data used in creating this table were from law enforcement agencies submitting 3 or more common months of offense reports for 2005 and 2006. When the FBI determines certain variables have created unusual fluctuations in the data, those data are excluded from the trend tabulations.
