U.S. Department of the Treasury (DOT)

Two U.S. DOT officers were assaulted in 2007. One of the officers was injured. The following provides information by agency within the DOT.

Internal Revenue Service:
No officers were assaulted in 2007.
Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration:
2 officers were assaulted, 1 of whom was injured.

Type of activity

At the time they were attacked, both officers from the DOT were making arrests or serving summonses.

Both of the DOT officers were attacked by persons using personal weapons, such as hands, fists, or feet.

Law enforcement authorities identified 1 suspect in the assaults on DOT officers. Prosecution was declined for the alleged assailant.
