Overall, the number of persons arrested in 2008 decreased 1.5 percent when compared with the number of persons arrested in 2007.
The number of juveniles (persons under age 18) arrested in 2008 decreased 2.8 percent from 2007.
The number of persons arrested for violent crimes decreased 0.6 percent from 2007 to 2008, and the number of juveniles arrested for these crimes decreased 1.9 percent.
The number of persons arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter declined 2.9 percent. The number of juveniles arrested for murder offenses decreased 5.1 percent.
The number of adults arrested for property crimes in 2008 increased 5.8 percent, and the number of juveniles arrested increased 5.1 percent when compared to the 2007 data.
Arrests for motor vehicle theft decreased 18.3 percent in 2008 when compared to 2007.
