  • The number of males and the number of females arrested in the Nation’s suburban areas each increased 1.0 percent in 2006 compared with the 2005 data; the number of male juveniles (persons under age 18) arrested increased 2.9 percent, and the number of female juveniles arrested increased 0.7 percent during this time period.
  • The number of males arrested in suburban areas for violent crime increased 0.3 percent from the 2005 figure, and the number of male juveniles arrested for violent offenses rose 4.2 percent.
  • The number of females arrested for violent crime decreased 0.3 percent, and the number of female juveniles arrested for these types of offenses was down 1.1 percent.
  • The number of males arrested for robbery increased 9.6 percent; the number of male juveniles arrested for this offense increased 21.7 percent in the Nation’s suburban areas.
  • The number of females arrested for robbery increased 9.5 percent in suburban areas, and the number of female juveniles arrested for this offense increased 18.8 percent.
  • The number of male juveniles arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter in 2006 increased 14.9 percent when compared with the 2005 data, and the number of female juveniles arrested for this offense decreased 75.0 percent.
