  • In 2006, arrests of males decreased 0.6 percent in nonmetropolitan counties when compared with 2005 data. Arrests of male juveniles decreased 1.9 percent.
  • Arrests of females increased 0.2 percent, and arrests of female juveniles decreased 1.5 percent in nonmetropolitan counties in 2006.
  • In nonmetropolitan counties, arrests of males for violent crime decreased 2.7 percent, and arrests of male juveniles for violent crime decreased 8.4 percent.
  • Arrests of females for violent crime increased 0.6 percent, and arrests of female juveniles for violent crime decreased 4.1 percent in nonmetropolitan counties in 2006.
  • In 2006, arrests of males for property crime decreased 3.6 percent in nonmetropolitan counties; arrests of male juveniles for property crime decreased 4.2 percent.
  • Arrests of females for property crimes decreased 5.1 percent in nonmetropolitan counties, and arrests of female juveniles decreased 7.1 percent.
  • There was a 32.2-percent increase in the number of female juveniles arrested for driving under the influence in nonmetropolitan counties in 2006 when compared with the 2005 data. Arrests of male juveniles for driving under the influence were up 19.8 percent. Overall, arrests of females were up 5.1 percent and arrests of males were up 0.6 percent for this offense.
  • In 2006, arrests of male juveniles for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter offenses in nonmetropolitan counties decreased 41.9 percent and arrests of female juveniles decreased 33.3 percent; overall, arrests of females declined 18.0 percent and arrests of males decreased 10.2 percent for this offense.
