  • The number of males arrested in the United States in 2006 increased 1.0 percent when compared with 2005 data. The number of females arrested rose 0.4 percent.
  • For violent crimes, the number of males arrested increased 0.5 percent, but the number of females arrested decreased 0.7 percent in the 2-year trend.
  • The number of male juveniles arrested for violent crimes in 2006 rose 4.7 percent from the previous year. However, the number of female juveniles arrested for violent crimes fell 1.3 percent.
  • For murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, the number of males arrested decreased 3.1 percent, and the number of females arrested for this offense declined 2.9 percent.
  • The number of male juveniles arrested for robbery rose 18.6 percent. The number of female juveniles arrested for robbery rose 21.7 percent.
  • For property crimes, the number of persons arrested decreased for both males and females, 4.0 percent and 8.4 percent, respectively.
