Mr.
Schiff: People who rob banks act and dress in
various ways. And they are given names by police
and the FBI, like the Choir Boy Bandit...
Mr.
Rice: "He was responsible for the robbery
of 11 banks in the Chicago area back in 1999 and
2000 up to August 2001."
Mr. Schiff: Special Agent Ross Rice in the FBI's
Chicago office...
Mr.
Rice: "He was dubbed the Choir Boy Bandit
because of his mannerisms during the robbery.
He would approach a teller, hand her a note announcing
the robbery, then he would make an intentional
effort to keep his head down, looking down at
the counter."
Mr. Schiff: Rice says the guy would fold his hands...
Mr.
Rice: "And hold them together on the counter
giving the appearance of someone who was in church,
praying, and possibly being a choir boy. We later
learned that he did this so that the surveillance
cameras would not get a clear shot at his face
and he wouldn't leave any fingerprints behind."
Mr. Schiff: The Choir Boy Bandit was eventually
caught. I'm Neal Schiff of the Bureau and that's
what's happening at the "FBI, This Week."
