Jefferson County Man Pleads Guilty to Threatening to Bomb a Jefferson County Courthouse

ST. LOUIS, MO—The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Scott R. Jones pled guilty involving his threat to enter the courthouse with a bomb strapped to him. He called the Division Six Court Clerk in Hillsboro from his cell phone on November 16, 2009.

SCOTT R. JONES, Eureka, Missouri, pled guilty to one felony count of threatening to injury or damage an individual or building by means of an explosive device before United States District Judge Carol E. Jackson.

He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000, when he is sentenced on April 28, 2011.

This case was investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Roy is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
