Two Audrain County Men Plead Guilty to Federal Child Pornography Charges

ST. LOUIS, MO—Glen Roy Mollet and Mike Martin Mollet have entered guilty pleas to federal charges of possession of child pornography, Acting United States Attorney Michael W. Reap and Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney Jacob Shellabarger announced today.

GLEN ROY MOLLET, of Rush Hill, Missouri, pleaded guilty Wednesday, January 6, 2010, to one felony count of possession of child pornography before United States District Judge E. Richard Webber. Sentencing has been set for April 8, 2010.

MIKE MARTIN MOLLET, also of Rush Hill, Missouri, pleaded guilty November 3, 2009, to the same charge and awaits sentencing January 29, 2010.

Between October 2007 and January 2008, the Mollets possessed images containing children under the age of 18 engaged in sexually explicit conduct on their computer.

Possession of child pornography carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. Reap commended the work performed on the case by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force, the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney, the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department, and Assistant United States Attorney Tiffany Becker, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
