FBI and SLMPD are Searching for Bank Robber

FBI St. Louis August 11, 2009
  • Rebecca Wu (314) 589-2671

At 11:14 a.m. today, a man robbed the St. Louis Community Credit Union at 4435 Chippewa in St. Louis, Missouri.

The robber first walked into the credit union at 10:12 a.m. and asked about opening up a new account.  After getting help, he told the teller he would be back. When he returned an hour later, the teller recognized him and told him to sign in if he had the necessary documents. That’s when the robber passed a note to the teller which stated, “Put money in bag.” The robber did not display a weapon but did say to the teller, “If you say anything, I will kill you.” The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money and he fled. Witnesses saw the robber run across Chippewa towards the east and disappeared between some houses. There is no vehicle description.

The robber is described as a 25 to 30 year old black male with medium build. He stands about 5’8” and has a dark complexion. He was wearing large sunglasses, black pants with a tan t-shirt and a tan camouflage baseball cap with “STL” logo on front.

Based on the pictures, we DO NOT believe the person who robbed this credit union is the same one who robbed the Commerce Bank at 8050 Big Bend in Webster Groves yesterday (August 10, 2009).

If you have any information, call St. Louis Crimestoppers at 866-371-TIPS or the FBI in St. Louis at 314-231-4324.

This is the 44th bank robbery so far this year.
