William James Vahey, a 64-year-old United States citizen, was a suspect in an international sex crime investigation but committed suicide in Luverne, Minnesota on March 22, 2014, before any criminal charges could be filed.

The FBI is legally mandated to identify victims of federal crimes that it investigates and provide these victims with information, assistance services, and resources.
