Holden was arrested in Beaverton, Oregon, following a tip from a citizen who read a wire service story in the Portland, Oregon, newspaper The Oregonian and contacted the FBI.
2 Morley Vernon King 3/15/1950 10/31/1951

Due to an FBI investigation, King was apprehended in a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, restaurant.
3 William Raymond Nesbit 3/16/1950 3/18/1950

Nesbit was arrested in St. Paul, Minnesota, by local police following a wire service story in the St. Paul Dispatch.
4 Henry Randolph Mitchell 3/17/1950 7/18/1958

Mitchell was placed on the list three days after its inception and was the only one of the original members still at large when the process against him was dismissed in Tallahassee, Florida.
5 Omar August Pinson 3/18/1950 8/28/1950

Due to an FBI investigation, Pinson was arrested in Pierre, South Dakota, by local police while applying for his driver’s license.
6 Lee Emory Downs 3/20/1950 4/7/1950

Due to an FBI investigation, Downs was arrested by the FBI in Daytona Beach, Florida, outside his trailer home. At the time of the arrest, Downs was working on his 1949 Lincoln automobile.
7 Orba Elmer Jackson 3/21/1950 3/23/1950

A citizen saw Jackson’s Identification Order in an Oregon post office and recognized Jackson as a farm hand. Jackson was apprehended without incident in Aloha, Oregon.
8 Glen Roy Wright 3/22/1950 12/13/1950

Due to an FBI investigation, Wright was arrested in Salina, Kansas, by the FBI.
9 Henry Harland Shelton 3/23/1950 6/23/1950

Shelton was arrested in Indianapolis, Indiana, by FBI Agents. Shelton was armed with a .45 caliber automatic weapon and drew it during the arrest. Agents shot and wounded Shelton.
10 Morris Guralnick 3/24/1950 12/15/1950

Guralnick was arrested by an FBI Agent and a local police officer at a clothing store where he was working as a night clerk in Madison, Wisconsin. Guralnick was located as a result of a citizen seeing his picture in the Coronet magazine and then contacting authorities.
11 William Francis Sutton 3/20/1950 2/18/1952

A bank robber, Sutton was arrested in Brooklyn, New York, without incident. Sutton was spotted by a citizen who had seen his Wanted Flyer and notified the local police after seeing Sutton on the subway in New York City. *Date added not chronological because Sutton was placed on the list after the original ten fugitives were already chosen and Nesbit (3) was quickly arrested.
12 Stephen William Davenport 4/4/1950 5/5/1950

Due to an FBI investigation, Davenport was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, by local police.
13 Henry Clay Tollett 4/11/1950 6/4/1951

Tollett was fatally wounded by a California Highway Patrol officer during the attempt to apprehend him. He was in a stolen car in Redding, California.
14 Frederick J. Tenuto 5/24/1950 3/9/1964

Federal process against Tenuto was dismissed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by a U.S. District Judge.
15 Thomas Kling 7/17/1950 2/20/1952

Kling was arrested in New York, New York, by local police.
16 Meyer Dembin 9/5/1950 11/26/1951

Dembin surrendered to the U.S. Attorney in New York, New York.
17 Courtney Townsend Taylor 1/8/1951 2/16/1951

Taylor was apprehended in Mobile, Alabama, after a jeweler recognized him from a Wanted Flyer. Sending his clerk to follow Taylor, the jeweler called the FBI and police. Within 25 minutes, Taylor was in custody.
18 Joseph Franklin Bent, Jr. 1/9/1951 8/29/1952

Bent was arrested in Texas City, Texas, after a citizen recognized his photo in Pageant magazine. He was shot and wounded during the arrest when he attempted to draw his weapon.
19 Harry H. Burton 3/9/1951 2/7/1952

Burton was arrested in Cody, Wyoming, by the local Sheriff and FBI. His arrest is attributed to the True Detective Mysteries radio broadcast.
20 Joseph Paul Cato 6/27/1951 6/22/1951

Cato surrendered to the FBI in Cleveland, Ohio, after seeing his own Identification Order. Although approved to be placed on the “Top Ten” list, he surrendered prior to the press release date.
21 Anthony Brancato 6/27/1951 6/29/1951

Brancato surrendered to the FBI in San Francisco, California, after seeing an International News Service story in the San Francisco Call-Bulletin.
22 Frederick Emerson Peters 7/2/1951 1/15/1952

Peters was arrested in a Washington, D.C., hotel lobby after two FBI Agents recognized him from an Identification Order.
23 Ernest Tait 7/11/1951 7/12/1951

Tait was arrested in Miami, Florida, by the FBI as a direct result of an Associated Press (AP) story published in the Miami Herald and the Miami Daily News. After being apprehended, Tait said he had intended to shoot it out with the police, but he had read the AP story about himself stating he had been added to the “Top Ten” list and decided not to try to shoot it out with the FBI. Tait is one of six people added to the “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list twice. He was also #133 on the list.
24 Ollie Gene Embry 7/25/1951 8/5/1951

A citizen saw Embry’s Identification Order in the post office and recognized him as a local filling station attendant. Embry was arrested by FBI Agents while he was in the process of fixing the radiator of the arresting Agents’ car in Kansas City, Missouri.
25 Giachino Anthony Baccolla 8/20/1951 12/10/1951

Due to an FBI investigation, Baccolla was arrested in New York, New York.
26 Raymond Edward Young 11/12/1951 11/16/1951

Due to an FBI investigation, Young was arrested in Denver, Colorado. Young worked nights at a bakery and was apprehended while loading bread trucks.
27 John Thomas Hill 12/10/1951 8/16/1952

Due to an FBI investigation, Hill was arrested in Hamtramck, Michigan, after a citizen recognized him from a Wanted Flyer. FBI Agents raided his home finding Hill in bed, fast asleep. He offered no resistance.
28 George Arthur Heroux 12/19/1951 7/25/1952

Heroux was arrested in El Portal, Florida, by local police following a police department investigation.
29 Sydney Gordon Martin 1/7/1952 11/27/1953

Martin was arrested without incident in Corpus Christi, Texas, by the FBI following publicity in the Saturday Evening Post.
30 Gerhard Arthur Puff 1/28/1952 7/26/1952

Puff was arrested in a hotel lobby in New York, New York, after he shot and killed FBI Special Agent Joseph J. Brock. Puff himself was shot and wounded before he was arrested.
31 Thomas Edward Young 2/21/1952 9/23/1952

Young was arrested in the Boise National Forest, Idaho, without incident following an investigation of citizen reports recognizing his photograph on Identification Orders and in newspaper articles.
32 Kenneth Lee Maurer 2/27/1952 1/8/1953

Maurer, working at a local cabinet shop, was arrested in Miami, Florida, after several customers saw his published photograph and contacted the FBI. Because of Maurer’s fear of flying, he was allowed to return to Detroit by train to face murder charges.
33 Isaie Aldy Beausoleil 3/3/1952 6/25/1953

At the time of his arrest, Beausoleil was dressed as a woman. The arrest occurred in Chicago, Illinois, when Beausoleil was spotted acting suspiciously in a women’s restroom. A park policewoman responded and made the arrest.
34 Leonard Joseph Zalutsky 8/5/1952 9/8/1952

Zalutsky was arrested by local police in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, after being recognized by two citizens who saw his FBI Wanted Poster in a post office.
35 William Merle Martin 8/11/1952 8/30/1952

Martin was arrested in St. Louis, Missouri, by local police due to a police investigation.
36 James Eddie Diggs 8/27/1952 12/14/1961

Federal process against Diggs was dismissed in Norfolk, Virginia.
37 Nick George Montos 9/8/1952 8/23/1954

Montos was arrested in Chicago, Illinois, while he and a companion waited for a freight train to cross the path of their car. His automobile was identified by two FBI Agents. Montos is one of six people added to the “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list twice. He was also #94 on the list.
38 Theodore Richard Byrd, Jr. 9/10/1952 2/21/1953

Byrd was arrested in El Reno, Oklahoma, after an off-duty FBI clerk recognized him from a Wanted Flyer and notified the local police.
39 Harden Collins Kemper 9/17/1952 1/1/1953

Kemper was arrested in Glendale, Arizona, after an Arizona Highway Patrolman recognized him from an Identification Order.
40 John Joseph Brennan 10/6/1952 1/23/1953

Brennan was arrested in Chicago, Illinois, as a result of a tip from an FBI informant.
41 Charles Patrick Shue 1/15/1953 2/13/1953

Shue was arrested in Los Angeles, California, as a result of the FBI being notified after an individual recognized his picture in a newspaper.
42 Lawson David Shirk Butler 1/22/1953 4/21/1953

Due to an FBI investigation, Butler was arrested in Los Angeles, California.
43 Joseph James Brletic 2/9/1953 2/10/1953

Brletic was arrested in Lancaster, California, by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office after being recognized from a photograph in the Los Angeles Herald-Express newspaper.
44 David Dallas Taylor 3/3/1953 5/26/1953

Due to an FBI investigation, Taylor was arrested in Chicago, Illinois.
45 Perlie Miller 3/4/1953 3/5/1953

Miller was arrested in Somersworth, New Hampshire. Working at a local diner, a customer recognized him from a published “Top Ten” photograph.
46 Fred William Bowerman 3/5/1953 4/24/1953

Bowerman was mortally wounded by police officers while attempting to flee the scene of a bank robbery in St. Louis, Missouri.
47 Robert Benton Mathus 3/16/1953 3/19/1953

Mathus was arrested in Duson, Louisiana, by FBI Agents and local police after being recognized by a citizen who saw his Wanted Flyer.
48 Floyd Allen Hill 3/30/1953 4/18/1953

Due to an FBI investigation, Hill was arrested in Dallas, Texas.
49 Joseph Levy 5/1/1953 4/30/1953

Levy was apprehended at the Churchill Downs Race Track in Louisville, Kentucky, one day prior to the public announcement of being placed on the “Top Ten” list. FBI Agents recognized him from the “Top Ten” material sent to the field office for the announcement. He is still considered to have been officially on the list.
50 Arnold Hinson 5/4/1953 11/7/1953

Hinson was apprehended by FBI Special Agents in the downtown area of Memphis, Tennessee.
51 Gordon Lee Cooper 5/11/1953 6/11/1953

Cooper was arrested in St. Louis, Missouri, following an investigation based on a citizen’s tip. Cooper was recognized from newspaper publicity.
52 Fleet Robert Current 5/18/1953 7/12/1953

Due to an FBI investigation, Current was arrested on an Omaha, Nebraska, street corner.
53 Donald Charles Fitterer 6/8/1953 6/21/1953

Fitterer was arrested in Oakland, California, by the FBI and California State Patrol. A citizen had reported him to FBI Headquarters after identifying him from a True Detective Mysteries radio broadcast.
54 John Raleigh Cooke 6/22/1953 10/20/1953

Cooke was arrested in Detroit, Michigan, as he descended for lunch from a roof on a construction project where he was working as a welder. Upon arrest, Cooke stated it was a relief to be caught as he knew from newspaper articles he was on the FBI’s list of “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” and distance would not aid him in his flight.
55 Jack Gordon White 7/6/1953 8/27/1953

White was recognized by a police officer who remembered him from an Identification Order. FBI and police were called to the area of downtown Seattle, Washington. After determining the make of the vehicle he was driving, FBI Agents were able to locate him. A traffic stop was made and White was apprehended without incident.
56 Alex Richard Bryant 7/14/1953 1/26/1954

Due to an FBI investigation, Bryant was arrested in Los Angeles, California.
57 George William Krendich 7/27/1953 10/11/1953

Krendich was found dead in an abandoned Jeep in a wooded area of Dunn County, North Dakota. The cause of death was suicide from asphyxiation of carbon monoxide fumes, which were piped in from the exhaust into his closed car.
58 Lloyd Reed Russell 9/8/1953 8/3/1954

Russell was killed during a gun battle with local police officers in Spokane, Washington.
59 Edwin Sanford Garrison 10/26/1953 11/3/1953

Garrison was arrested in Detroit, Michigan, without incident after a citizen recognized his photograph in a newspaper article. Garrison is one of six people added to the “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list twice. He was also #112 on the list.
60 Franklin James Wilson 11/2/1953 1/18/1954

During an interview following Wilson’s arrest in Chicago, Illinois, Wilson blamed the extensive publicity surrounding his addition to the “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list for his quick capture.
61 Charles E. Johnson 11/12/1953 12/28/1953

Johnson was apprehended in Central Islip, Long Island, New York, after a citizen recognized him from a magazine article in the November 14, 1953, issue of the Saturday Evening Post.
62 Thomas Jackson Massingale 11/18/1953 11/26/1953

Massingale was apprehended in Las Vegas, New Mexico, after a citizen recognized him from a photograph in the November 24, 1953, issue of the Saturday Evening Post.
63 Peter Edward Kenzik 12/7/1953 1/26/1955

Kenzik was arrested in San Diego, California, for drunkenness. A gun was found in his possession and a routine fingerprint check identified Kenzik.
64 Thomas Everett Dickerson 12/10/1953 12/21/1953

Due to an FBI investigation, Dickerson was arrested in Verdunville, West Virginia, by the FBI and the West Virginia State Patrol.
65 Chester Lee Davenport 1/6/1954 1/7/1954

Davenport was arrested near Dixon, California. The local veterinarian recognized Davenport’s photograph in a newspaper as being a dairy farm worker. Davenport was arrested while milking a cow.
66 Alex Whitmore 1/11/1954 5/10/1954

Whitmore was arrested in Seattle, Washington, after a citizen recognized him from a television broadcast.
67 Everett Lowell Krueger 1/25/1954 2/15/1954

After being arrested in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Krueger told FBI Agents, “I’m glad it’s over. I’m tired of running.”
68 Apee Hamp Chapman 2/3/1954 2/10/1954

Chapman was arrested in Silver Spring, Maryland, after a citizen saw his photo in the February 9, 1954, issue of the Washington-Afro-American magazine.
69 Nelson Robert Duncan 2/8/1954 2/21/1954

Duncan was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta patrolmen were investigating an open skylight in a local grocery store and discovered Duncan and an accomplice attempting to burglarize the store safe.
70 Charles Falzone 2/24/1954 8/17/1955

Falzone was arrested in New Bedford, Pennsylvania, by the FBI after a citizen recognized his photograph from an Identification Order in a post office.
71 Basil Kingsley Beck 3/1/1954 3/3/1954

Due to an FBI investigation, Beck was arrested in San Pablo, California, by FBI Agents.
72 Clarence Dye 3/8/1954 8/3/1955

Dye was arrested in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by local police. During a routine check, Dye’s former girlfriend told police Dye was wanted.
73 James William Lofton 3/16/1954 3/17/1954

Due to an FBI investigation, Lofton was arrested in Morgan City, Louisiana, by local police and the FBI.
74 Sterling Groom 4/2/1954 4/21/1954

Groom was arrested in Baltimore, Maryland, by the FBI after a citizen recognized him from an Identification Order in a post office.
75 Raymond Louis Owen Menard 5/3/1954 5/5/1954

Menard was arrested in New Orleans, Louisiana, by local police after a citizen recognized his photograph from a local newspaper.
76 John Alfred Hopkins 5/18/1954 6/7/1954

Hopkins was arrested near Beowawe, Nevada, by the FBI after a citizen recognized him from a photo in a California newspaper.
77 Otto Austin Loel 5/21/1954 1/17/1955

Loel was arrested in Sanford, Florida, by local police. Loel had been hiding in a Sanford city dump and living in a crude shack made of palmetto leaves.
78 David Daniel Keegan 6/21/1954 12/13/1963

Federal process against Keegan was dismissed in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
79 Walter James Wilkinson 8/17/1954 1/13/1955

Wilkinson was arrested in Los Angeles, California, by the FBI after a citizen recognized him from an Identification Order in a post office. He was working at a country club as a busboy. During the arrest, Wilkinson commented: “It didn’t take too long. I know how you guys work.”
80 John Harry Allen 9/7/1954 12/21/1954

Allen was arrested in Fort Smith, Arkansas, after being recognized by two police officers from a Wanted Flyer.
81 George Lester Belew 1/4/1955 1/24/1955

Belew was arrested at a motel near Champaign, Illinois, after the motel owner recognized his photograph on a Wanted Flyer.
82 Kenneth Darrell Carpenter 1/31/1955 2/4/1955

Carpenter was arrested near Arlington, Tennessee, after an FBI Agent recognized him sitting in the vehicle next to his. Carpenter reached for the radio dial in his car and the Agent recognized a tattoo of the word “love” on the fingers of his right hand. The Agent radioed for assistance and Carpenter was arrested an hour later.

Due to an FBI investigation, Payne was arrested in Crittenden County, Arkansas. Payne was working as an itinerant cotton picker and gambler.
84 Palmer Julius Morset 2/7/1955 3/2/1956

Due to an FBI investigation, Morset was arrested in Indianapolis, Indiana.
85 Patrick Eugene McDermott 2/9/1955 7/19/1955

McDermott was recognized by a police officer from an Identification Order. McDermott was working as a local ambulance driver in New York, New York.
86 Garland William Daniels 2/18/1955 3/29/1955

Daniels was arrested in Los Angeles, California, after a citizen recognized his photograph in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper.
87 Daniel William O’Connor 4/11/1955 12/26/1958

To avoid arrest, O’Connor dyed his hair red, grew a mustache, added a tattoo and gained 58 pounds. O’Connor was apprehended in El Cajon, California, during an investigation of a neighborhood theft of a two wheeled trailer valued at $15. O’Connor was a neighbor of the victim and a routine check of his fingerprints identified him as O’Connor.

Due to an FBI investigation, Raymond was apprehended in Denver, Colorado.
89 Daniel Abram Everhart 8/17/1955 10/9/1955

Due to an FBI investigation, Everhart was arrested in Denver, Colorado.
90 Charles Edward Ranels 9/2/1955 12/16/1956

Ranels was arrested in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, after neighbors recognized his photo on a Wanted Flyer.
91 Thurman Arthur Green 10/24/1955 2/16/1956

Due to an FBI investigation, Green was arrested in Nashville, Tennessee. Green had sent his wife to stay with relatives and was home alone in bed recuperating from a toothache. He told the officers, “I was expecting you yesterday.”
92 John Allen Kendrick 11/2/1955 12/2/1955

Due to an FBI investigation, Kendrick was arrested in Chicago, Illinois.
93 Joseph James Bagnola 12/19/1955 12/30/1956

Due to an FBI investigation, Bagnola was arrested in Chicago, Illinois.
94 Nick George Montos 3/2/1956 3/28/1956

Montos was arrested in his motel room in Memphis, Tennessee, after being recognized by a citizen. Montos is one of six people added to the “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list twice. He was also #37 on the list.
95 James Ignatius Faherty 3/19/1956 5/16/1956

Due to an FBI investigation, Faherty was arrested in Boston, Massachusetts.
96 Thomas Francis Richardson 4/12/1956 5/16/1956

Due to an FBI investigation, Richardson was arrested in Boston, Massachusetts, together with Faherty (95).
97 Eugene Francis Newman 5/28/1956 6/11/1965

Federal process against Newman was dismissed in Buffalo, New York.
98 Carmine DiBiase 5/28/1956 8/28/1958

DiBiase surrendered to the FBI through an attorney in New York, New York. Following his surrender, DiBiase reportedly made the following statement: “I am getting older and accomplishing nothing having to stay away from my wife and children, mother and father. I am glad it is over. I had to come in.”
99 Ben Golden McCollum 1/4/1957 3/7/1958

McCollum was arrested in a rooming house in Indianapolis, Indiana.
100 Alfred James White 1/14/1957 1/24/1957

White was arrested in Memphis, Tennessee, by the FBI after being recognized by a citizen from a Wanted Flyer.
101 Robert L. Green 2/11/1957 2/13/1957

Green was arrested in St. Paul, Minnesota, by the FBI after a citizen recognized his photograph in the Minneapolis Star newspaper. Green was about to board a bus en route to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
102 George Edward Cole 2/25/1957 7/6/1959

Cole was arrested in Des Moines, Iowa, by the FBI after a citizen recognized Cole’s female companion from a photograph on a Wanted Flyer.
103 Eugene Russell McCracken 3/26/1958 3/27/1958

McCracken was arrested in Baltimore, Maryland, by the FBI after McCracken’s photo was published in the Baltimore News-Post newspaper. Four separate individuals called the FBI on the same day the newspaper article appeared.
104 Frank Aubrey Leftwich 4/4/1958 4/18/1958

Due to an FBI investigation, Leftwich was arrested in Chicago, Illinois.
105 Quay Cleon Kilburn 4/16/1958 6/2/1958

Kilburn was arrested in Los Angeles, California, by the FBI after a citizen recognized him from an Identification Order in a local post office. Kilburn is one of six people added to the “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list twice. He was also #188 on the list.
106 Dominick Scialo 5/9/1958 7/27/1959

Scialo surrendered to the FBI in Brooklyn, New York.
107 Angelo Luigi Pero 6/16/1958 12/2/1960

Federal process against Pero was dismissed by the U.S. Attorney in New York, New York.
108 Frederick Grant Dunn 7/29/1958 9/8/1959

A farmer located skeletal remains along a stream near Ellsworth, Kansas, and contacted the sheriff. The remains were sent to the FBI’s Laboratory and identified as Dunn.
109 Frank Lawrence Sprenz 9/10/1958 4/15/1959

Due to an FBI investigation, Sprenz was arrested in Laredo, Texas.
110 David Lynn Thurston 1/8/1959 2/6/1959

Thurston was arrested in New York, New York, after attempting to rob a Broadway restaurant. He was apprehended by police after a chase through theater crowds on the streets.
111 John Thomas Freeman 2/17/1959 2/18/1959

Freeman was arrested by the FBI in Hillside, Maryland, after a citizen recognized his photograph in a newspaper article.
112 Edwin Sanford Garrison 3/4/1959 9/9/1960

When Garrison was arrested in St. Louis, Missouri, he told the FBI Agents: “I’m glad it’s over. I know the FBI. You can’t fool the FBI for very long.” Garrison is one of six people added to the “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list twice. He was also #59 on the list.
113 Emmett Bernard Kervan 4/29/1959 5/13/1959

Due to an FBI investigation, Kervan was arrested in El Paso, Texas.
114 Richard Allen Hunt 5/27/1959 6/2/1959

Hunt was arrested by the local sheriff in Thermopolis, Wyoming, after a citizen recognized Hunt from a Wanted Flyer.
115 Walter Bernard O’Donnell 6/17/1959 6/19/1959

O’Donnell was arrested in Norfolk, Virginia, by the FBI after a citizen recognized his photograph in a newspaper article. At the time of his apprehension, O’Donnell was posing as a retired U. S. Postal Inspector and was scheduled to speak before a Norfolk citizens’ group that night.

Due to an FBI investigation, Williams was arrested in New York, New York.
117 James Francis Jenkins 7/21/1959 8/12/1959

Jenkins was arrested in a Buffalo, New York, motel after an informant tipped off the FBI.
118 Harry Raymond Pope 8/11/1959 8/25/1959

Due to an FBI investigation, Pope was arrested in Lubbock, Texas, by the FBI and Texas Rangers.

Due to an FBI investigation, Duffy was arrested in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
120 Robert Garfield Brown, Jr. 9/9/1959 1/11/1960

Brown was arrested in Cincinnati, Ohio, by the FBI after a citizen recognized his photograph on an Identification Order.
121 Frederick Anthony Seno 9/24/1959 9/24/1959

Due to an FBI investigation, Seno was arrested in Miami, Florida, in a rooming house where he had been living under an assumed name. When approached by FBI Agents he shouted, “Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!”
122 Smith Gerald Hudson 10/7/1959 7/31/1960
