Contact Us

The FBI has offices around the world and can be contacted around the clock, every day of the year. See When to Contact the FBI for details on our areas of responsibility.

Here’s how to contact us:

If someone is in imminent danger, call 9-1-1 or your local police immediately. You can also provide information on the FBI’s electronic tip line, which we monitor 24/7. If you do so, please be specific and let us know up front that it is an emergency.

Reporting Crime

You can report violations of U.S. federal law or submit information in a criminal or terrorism investigation as follows:

Note: at this time we do not have a national e-mail address for sending or forwarding investigative information. Some of our local FBI offices, however, do have their own e-mail addresses.

Missing and Abducted Children

If your child has been kidnapped or harmed, immediately contact your local field office or the closest international office. Other key contacts:
  • To report a missing child or the sighting of a missing child, you can also contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by calling 1-800-THE-LOST or by visiting its website.
  • To report child sexual exploitation, use the electronic Cyber Tip Line or call 1-800-843-5678. The Cyber Tip Line is operated by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in partnership with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.
  • If your child is being abducted internationally by a family member and is not yet abroad, contact the U.S. Department of State.
