Caseyville Man Arraigned on Gun Charge

Jesse Fields, Jr., 49, of Caseyville, Illinois, was arraigned today in federal district court in East St. Louis, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced today. Fields was charged by indictment on December 15, 2010, with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The indictment also contains a forfeiture provision for the firearm and ammunition that Fields is alleged to have possessed.
Trial is set for August 9, 2011, at 9 a.m. Fields was released on bond, but is subject to electronic monitoring pending trial.
The maximum penalties that can be imposed, upon conviction, for a violation of this statute are: 10 years' imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, or both; three years' supervised release; and a $100 special assessment.
The case was investigated by members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen B. Clark.
