Wapato Man Sentenced to 150 Months in Prison for Burglary and Possession of Stolen Firearms

YAKIMA, WA—Today, Michael C. Ormsby, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, announced that James Dean Cloud, age 27, of Wapato, Washington, was sentenced for the crimes of burglary and possession of stolen firearms. James Dean Cloud was sentenced to a term of 150 months’ imprisonment followed by a term of three years of court supervision after he is released from prison. The defendant has been in federal custody since his arrest on July 21, 2010.

James Dean Cloud admitted in his plea agreement that he burglarized a residence in White Swan, Washington, on May 25, 2010, and stole two firearms, among other items. The stolen property was not recovered. The crimes occurred within the Yakama Nation Reservation, and James Dean Cloud is an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. Pursuant to the plea agreement, James Dean Cloud agreed to plead guilty to the crimes of burglary and possession of stolen firearms and agreed to a sentence of 150 months’ imprisonment and three years of supervised release.

This investigation was conducted by the Yakama Tribal Police Department, the Yakima County Sheriff's Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. This case was prosecuted by James Goeke, Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington.
