Man Sentenced to 151 Months in Prison for Aggravated Sexual Abuse of Minor

YAKIMA—James A. McDevitt, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, announced that David Lyle Gomez, age 29, of the Yakama Nation Indian Reservation, was sentenced for aggravated sexual abuse of a minor. In January 2007, the victim reported that the defendant sexually abused her when she was a small child. After a lengthy investigation, the grand jury returned an indictment in December 2008. On November 24, 2009, after a jury trial, defendant was found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse. Today, David Lyle Gomez was sentenced to a term of 151 months' imprisonment followed by five years of court supervision when he is released from prison. He has been in custody since November 24, 2009.

This investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Yakama Tribal Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tom Hanlon of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington.
