SAN JUAN—The FBI-San Juan Field Office welcomes its first two members of the armed forces under the Wounded Warrior Internship Program. These two enlisted soldiers were mobilized in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism.

The Wounded Warrior Internship Program (WWIP) supports Presidential Executive Order #13518, Employment of Veterans in the Federal Government. It is a direct veteran recruitment resource that enables the FBI to identify and assess potential employees from a pool of highly qualified and diverse veterans who possess a wide range of skills and talents. The program is a no-cost recruitment tool for the FBI. In particular, the FBI provides career development opportunities for qualified service members recovering from medical procedures. It enables individuals to build a resume, explore employment interests, develop job skills, and gain valuable federal government work experience, in addition to offering participants a formal means of transitioning back to the military or civilian workforce. A participant must be an active duty service member recovering from a medical procedure and authorized by the Department of Defense (DoD) to participate voluntarily in the program.

The FBI-San Juan is honored to have two members of the armed forces participating under the Wounded Warrior Internship Program now working in our office. These men and women, returning from service, who have sacrificed so much on behalf of our country, deserve the very best in employment opportunities and assistance in developing additional job skills. On the occasion of Memorial Day weekend, we take the opportunity to thank them and all military men and women serving in the U.S. Military.
