FBI and San Diego Police Department Seek Public’s Assistance to Identify Man Who Attempted to Rob Union Bank

The FBI and San Diego Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify an unknown male who attempted to rob the Union Bank at 1201 Fifth Avenue in San Diego, California, on Monday, December 1, 2014.

At approximately 9:45 a.m., an unknown male entered the Union Bank at 1201 Fifth Avenue in San Diego, California, and attempted to rob one of the tellers using a demand note. At the time of the robbery, the unknown male entered the bank and presented a demand note for cash. The demand note indicated the robber was armed with a weapon. The robber slipped the demand note under the protective glass barrier, commonly referred to as a bandit barrier. The teller advised the robber he/she was unable to provide cash at the time. The robber demanded the return of the note and exited the bank without any money. No injuries were reported.

Witnesses describe the robber as follows:

  • Sex: Male
  • Race: Black
  • Age: Mid- to late 40s
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Height: Unknown
  • Build: Medium
  • Hair: Short black hair with beard and mustache
  • Clothing: Dark hooded jacket with gray T-shirt worn underneath
