Daphne Hearn, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the San Diego FBI Field Office, announces that the FBI will be participating in a Youth Athletics and Resource Fair, presented by the San Diego Somali Community and Law Enforcement Roundtable (SDSCLER). The event will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Colina Park at 5319 Orange Avenue in San Diego, California, 92115.

The FBI, through its Community Outreach Program, and the United States Attorney’s Office are partnering with the SDSCLER to participate in this event. The FBI believes that participation in the SDSCLER and other community-oriented activities help foster positive relationships between the FBI and the communities we serve.

“Building bridges of trust that lead to open lines of communications is important to keeping our communities safe,” SAC Hearn said. “When the public understands the FBI’s mission and sees us as partners, they are more likely to report a crime, return a telephone call, or respond positively to being approached by law enforcement.”

The Youth Athletics and Resource Fair will include teen basketball competition, soccer clinics, safety information, and activities for young children. For more information concerning the FBI’s Community Outreach Program, please contact Community Outreach Specialist Erin Mac Kinnon at (858) 320-8313 or Public Affairs Specialist Emily Yeh at (858) 320-8312.
