FBI and San Diego Police Department Seek Public’s Assistance to Locate Alleged Bank Robber
Darius Demon Lake Charged with Robbing Chase Bank on April 6, 2012

The FBI and San Diego Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to locate a man charged with robbing the Chase Bank branch located at 4078, Adams Avenue in San Diego, California, on Friday, April 6, 2012.

Darius Demon Lake, age 22, of San Diego, California, has been charged in a federal complaint with robbing the Chase Bank branch located at 4078, Adams Avenue in San Diego, California, on Friday, April 6, 2012.

On July 12, 2012, a federal complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California, charging Lake with one count of violating Title 18, U.S.C., Section 2113, bank robbery.

According to the complaint, on Friday, April 6, 2012, at approximately 12:49 p.m., the Chase Bank, located at 4078 Adams Avenue, San Diego, California, was robbed by an unknown male. Witnesses stated that the suspect was wearing a blue wind-breaker jacket, baseball hat with a yellow panel in the front and blue panels in the back, and dark blue jeans. He was described as clean shaven, approximately 5’8” tall, and weighing 190 lbs. During the robbery, the robber provided a demand note that threatened that the robber was armed with a gun and threatened to use the gun. The victim teller, fearing for his/her safety and the safety of others provided, the robber with a sum of money.

After receiving a sum of money, witnesses observed the robber flee down an alley a short distance from the bank where the baseball hat worn during the robbery was recovered. Law enforcement was able to obtain DNA from the demand note and the baseball hat and compared it against the Local Combined DNA Index System (CODIS).

On June 15, 2012, the San Diego Police Department, Forensic Section, Forensic Biology Unit Laboratory Report, determined that Darius Demon Lake was the major contributor of DNA from the demand note and baseball cap.

The FBI also received tips concerning Lake as a bank robbery suspect after an airing of “San Diego’s Most Wanted.”

Lake is described as follows:

  • Age: 22
  • Height: Approximately 5’11” tall
  • Weight: Approximately 160 lbs.
  • Hair: Black
  • Eyes: Brown
