Federal Bank Robbery Charges Filed in “Drywaller Bandit” Investigation

FBI San Diego February 04, 2011
  • Darrell Foxworth (858) 320-8302

John Leendert Oskam, age 39, has been charged with one count of armed bank robbery and one count of using a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence.

On Friday, February 4, 2011, a federal complaint was filed with the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California, charging Oskam with using a firearm to rob the Chase Bank, 105 North El Camino Real, Encinitas, California, on Thursday, February 3, 2011.

Oskam is currently being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center and expected to appear before a U.S. Magistrate Judge, on Friday, February 4, 2011. Oskam is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

An arrest itself is not evidence that the defendant committed the crimes charged. The defendant is presumed innocent until the government meets its burden in court of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
