FBI and San Diego Police Department Seek Public’s Assistance to Identify Comerica Bank Robber

The FBI and San Diego Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male responsible for robbing the Comerica Bank, located at 412 Washington Street, San Diego, California, earlier today. This same unknown male is believed to be the same suspect who attempted to rob the Chase Bank, located at 3800 Fifth Avenue, San Diego, California, approximately five minutes before this robbery.

On Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at approximately 3:07 p.m., an unknown male entered the Chase Bank, located at 3800 Fifth Avenue, San Diego, California, and attempted to rob one of the tellers. At the time of the attempted robbery, the suspect approached a teller and made a verbal demand for cash. The teller, who was standing behind ballistic protective glass, did not comply with the suspect’s demand. The suspect fled the bank without receiving any money.

At approximately 3:12 p.m., an unknown male matching the suspect’s description from the attempted Chase Bank robbery, entered the Comerica Bank, 412 Washington Street, San Diego, California, and robbed one of the tellers. At the time of the robbery, the suspect approached the victim teller and made a verbal demand for money. The teller complied with the suspect’s demand and provided him with a sum of money. After receiving the money, the robber walked out of the bank.

The robber is described as follows:

Race: White
Sex: Male
Age: 40 to 50 years old
Height: Approximately 5’8” to 5’9”
Weight: Approximately 145 to 150 pounds
Build: Medium
Hair: Gray/silver
Facial Hair: Unshaven
Eyes: Bloodshot
Clothing: Black polo shirt, black pants, and tennis shoes
Other: White hospital bag with a plastic snap handle
