FBI and La Mesa Police Seek Public’s Assistance to Identify Knife-Wielding Bank Robber

The FBI and La Mesa Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male responsible for robbing the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 5500 Grossmont Center Drive, La Mesa, California, on Thursday, July 1, 2010.

On Thursday, July 1, 2010, at approximately 12:26 p.m., an unknown male wielding a knife, robbed two tellers at the Wells Fargo Bank, 5500 Grossmont Center Drive, La Mesa, California. At the time of the robbery, the robber ran into the bank, jumped over the teller counter, pointed a knife at a teller and proceeded to rob the teller. The robber then pointed the knife at a second teller and demanded money. The robber placed the money inside of a white bag he was carrying. After receiving a sum of money from both tellers, the robber ran out of the bank. The robber was last seen running southwest towards Jackson Drive. No injuries were reported.

Race: Hispanic
Height: 5’11” – 6’0” tall
Weight: Unknown
Build: Heavy
Clothing: Dark colored baseball cap, dark shirt, blue jeans and gloves, sunglasses, and dark cloth material covering lower half of face
Weapon: Folding knife with a three- to four-inch blade and light colored handle
