Former Lampasas Bank Employee Sentenced to Prison for Embezzlement

U.S. Attorney’s Office April 23, 2009
  • Western District of Texas (210) 384-7100

John E. Murphy, Acting United States Attorney, announced that 54-year-old Pamela Ruth Haynie of Lampasas, Texas was sentenced to one year plus one day in federal prison for stealing over $515,000 from the First Texas Bank in Lampasas.

During the sentencing hearing held yesterday, United States District Judge Lee Yeakel also ordered that the former assistant cashier pay $483,428.79 restitution to the bank and be placed under supervised release for a period of three years after completing her prison term.

On February 5, 2009, Haynie appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Andrew Austin and pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement. By pleading guilty, Haynie admitted that from January 1998 until July 2008, she illegally transferred money from certain business accounts into family accounts which she had signature authority on, then used that money for her own personal benefit.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Mark Lane prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
