Informational: Federal Court Initial Appearance

The United States Attorney’s Office announced that during a federal court session in Billings, on February 6, 2013, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn S. Ostby, the following individual appeared:
Mary Agnes Leider, a 24-year-old resident of St. Xavier, made an initial appearance on a complaint alleging second-degree murder. She is currently detained. If charged with this offense, Leider faces possible penalties of life in prison, a $250,000 fine, and five years’ supervised release. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcia K. Hurd is the prosecutor for the United States. The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office.
