Kevin Alfred Gobert Sentenced in U.S. District Court

U.S. Attorney’s Office March 14, 2012
  • District of Montana (406) 657-6101

The United States Attorney’s Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls on March 12, 2012 before U.S. District Judge Sam E. Haddon, KEVIN ALFRED GOBERT, a 26-year-old resident of Browning, appeared for sentencing. GOBERT was sentenced to a term of:

  • Prison: 60 months
  • Special assessment: $200
  • Supervised release: five years

GOBERT was sentenced in connection with his guilty plea to abusive sexual contact and production of obscene visual representation of the sexual abuse of a child.

In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cyndee L. Peterson and Laura B. Weiss, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:

GOBERT is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe of Indians.

On the evening of January 21, 2011, GOBERT was in the bedroom of a residence located within the exterior boundaries of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. A young girl was in the bedroom and on the bed with GOBERT.

GOBERT used his cell phone to take photographs of the girl’s genital area. When touching the young girl and manipulating her underwear to take the photographs, he knowingly made contact with her genital area.

Because there is no parole in the federal system, the “truth in sentencing” guidelines mandate that GOBERT will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, GOBERT does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for “good behavior.” However, this reduction will not exceed 15 percent of the overall sentence.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
