FBI Honors Pamela J. Atkinson with 2012 FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award
Ms. Atkinson Recognized by FBI for Years of Service to Utah’s Homeless

Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson is pleased to announce Ms. Pamela J. Atkinson of Utah as the recipient of the 2012 FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award for the Salt Lake City Division. “Ms. Atkinson was selected by the FBI for her two decades of selfless dedication and volunteer work with Utah’s homeless and low-income citizens. Ms. Atkinson’s noble contributions to communities across Utah serve as an inspiration and a reminder that one person can make a difference,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson.

Among many other accomplishments, Ms. Atkinson has worked to educate community leaders, non-profit organizations, and law enforcement about issues related to homelessness, she volunteers for the Volunteers of America Homeless Outreach Team, and she has helped establish charitable clinics for the medically underserved. Through her example, she instills the volunteer spirit in others by encouraging Utahns to collect bedding, clothing, and food for homeless families transitioning into permanent housing. “I have had the privilege of being associated with Pamela going on 25 years. Pamela embodies the compassion, tenacity, and vigor of our collective efforts to overcome homelessness in our community,” said Matt Minkevitch, Executive Director of the Road Home homeless shelter in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Road Home and the FBI Salt Lake City Division hosted a press event to honor Pamela J. Atkinson on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at 210 South Rio Grande Street in Salt Lake City. At that time, FBI Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson presented Ms. Atkinson with the 2012 Director’s Community Leadership Award certificate on behalf of the Director of the FBI.
