William Charles Moore Sentenced in U.S. District Court

The United States Attorney’s Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls on December 1, 2011, before U.S. District Judge Sam E. Haddon, WILLIAM CHARLES MOORE, a 33-year-old resident of Utah, appeared for sentencing. MOORE was sentenced to a term of:
Prison: 18 months
Special Assessment: $100
Supervised Release: three years
MOORE was sentenced in connection with his guilty plea to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine.
In an offer of proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Vince Carroll, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:
Between 2007 and 2010, MOORE’s co-conspirators traveled from the Salt Lake City, Utah area to the Great Falls area to sell cocaine.
On December 12, 2009, MOORE drove from the Salt Lake City area to Great Falls and delivered approximately four ounces (110 grams) of cocaine to an undercover agent. The undercover agent paid MOORE $4,400 for the cocaine. The sale took place in the Holiday Village Mall parking lot in Great Falls.
Because there is no parole in the federal system, the “truth in sentencing” guidelines mandate that MOORE will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, MOORE does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for “good behavior.” However, this reduction will not exceed 15 percent of the overall sentence.
The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Great Falls Police Department, and the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation.
