Terreton Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Possession of Child Pornography

U.S. Attorney’s Office August 27, 2010
  • District of Idaho (208) 334-1211

Pony Jackson, 40, of Terreton, Idaho, was sentenced on Wednesday to 120 months in federal prison for possession of sexually explicit images of minors, the United States Attorney’s Office announced. Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill also ordered Jackson to be supervised for the rest of his life once he is released from prison. Jackson was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. Jackson pled guilty to the charge in February 2010.

At the plea hearing, the court learned that in January 2007, the FBI went to Jackson's residence in Terreton, Idaho, to serve an arrest warrant out of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Wyoming on the charge of possession of child pornography. At that time, Jackson was discovered to be in possession of more child pornography. After serving a sentence of three years on the Wyoming charge, Jackson was charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Idaho with another count of possession of child pornography. Prior to coming into Idaho’s custody but after serving the Wyoming sentence, Jackson was convicted at trial in Clark County, Idaho, in July 2009, of two counts of lewd conduct with a child under 16 for molesting a 4-year-old girl in 1992. Jackson was sentenced to 10 to 20 years on those charges. Jackson’s federal sentence will run consecutive to the state sentence, which he is currently serving.

In sentencing Jackson, Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill noted that children are at a definite risk of abuse and exploitation when Jackson is not in prison.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
