LINDEN, CA—FBI personnel and technical experts completed the fourth day of site preparation at an old well site in Linden, California, today. The collaborative team continued advance work to support and excavation effort that may locate remains of one or more homicide victims believed to be interred for more than two decades.

Despite estimates that bottom of the old, filled-in well was located 50 feet underground, boring efforts failed to locate either the bottom of the well or debris, even as the team approached 100 feet below the surface yesterday. Crews continued their efforts, bringing additional equipment to the site to ensure that efforts to find the bottom of the well continued, despite delay.

Today, the bottom was located more than 200 feet below the surface of the interior operational area. Unfortunately, the bottom of the well contains water that must be drained to enable a camera to get a better view of what may be in the deepest reaches of the well. To drain the water, a specialized pump will be brought to the site, but it may take days to have the effect needed for a clear view.
