Carmichael Woman Pleads Guilty to Bank Robbery

SACRAMENTO, CA—United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced today that ROBERTA ELAINE LEE, 51, of Carmichael, pleaded guilty today to bank robbery before United States District Judge Edward J. Garcia.
This case is the product of an investigation by the Sacramento Violent Crimes Task Force, which includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
According to Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rodriguez, who is prosecuting the case, on October 28, 2009, LEE robbed the U.S. Bank at 4040 Manzanita in Carmichael, which is in a grocery store. She stated in her demand note that she had a gun and threatened to use it. LEE successfully fled from the U.S. Bank with $3,820. On November 13, 2009, LEE surrendered to FBI special agents after law enforcement received an anonymous tip identifying LEE as the Carmichael U.S. Bank robber.
LEE is scheduled to be sentenced in Sacramento on Friday, March 19, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. before Judge Garcia. LEE faces a maximum of 20 years in prison for the bank robbery charge. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables and any applicable statutory sentencing factors.
