New Images Released in Search for Missing Nelson County Teen

Update 8/12/13: Arrest Made in Alexis Murphy Case

Sheriff David Brooks, Nelson County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office; Colonel Steven Flaherty, Virginia State Police; and Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Jeffrey Mazanec, Federal Bureau of Investigation continue to ask for the public’s assistance in locating a missing teen from Nelson County.

Yesterday the Nelson County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation held a brief news conference once again appealing to the public to come forward with additional information to aide in the investigation of Alexis Tiara Murphy’s disappearance. During the conference, SAC Mazanec stressed that these agencies have combined their resources to aggressively pursue every investigative avenue possible and that the public is key to obtaining more information.

This conference also gave the family the opportunity to make a plea for Alexis’ return and for information to continue to be brought forth.

Alexis, a 5’7” tall black female, was last seen on August 3, 2013. She was traveling in a white 2003 Nissan Maxima GLE SE with Virginia license plates WYN-3706, which has since been located in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was wearing a pink blouse, floral-print (full-length) spandex pants, and brown boots and was carrying a dark and light colored grey purse. The images below are stills from surveillance video at the gas station where she was last seen.
