Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey C. Mazanec is pleased to recognize Ms. Doris Buffett as the division’s recipient of the 2012 Director’s Community Leadership Award. The Director’s Community Leadership Award is a prestigious award that recognizes commitment and contribution to public safety and awareness.

Ms. Buffett, a philanthropist, founded the Sunshine Lady Foundation in 1996. The Foundation provides grants to organizations and programs dedicated to providing opportunities for the advancement of education and well-being for disadvantaged people and families in crisis. In 2008, Ms. Buffett made a $1 million challenge grant, boosting fundraising for the development of a ballpark in the Fredericksburg area. The complex, Sunshine Stadium, includes a turf-lined baseball stadium, a grass field, an ability field for disabled competitors, and an education center. This stadium was built with the assistance of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation.

On April 5, 2013, Ms. Buffett and award recipients from across the country will be present at the FBI’s Headquarters in Washington, D.C., to be formally recognized by Director Mueller for their outstanding work and contributions to the community and law enforcement.
