Richmond Community Outreach

Richmond, like each of the FBI’s local field offices, has a community outreach program that complements and strengthens our many efforts to protect you, your businesses, and your families in concrete ways through a range of activities and initiatives. It works specifically to help reduce crime, violence, terrorism, and civil rights violations through community-based partnerships, collaborative efforts, and special events. The program also provides educational and networking opportunities for community leaders and students.

SAC Adam Lee presents Mr. Sidney Townsend the 2014 Director’s Community Leadership Award

On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, SAC Adam Lee presented Mr. Sidney Townsend with the 2014 Director’s Community Leadership Award. Mr. Townsend began his community involvement in 1996 when he became involved in his neighborhood watch group, which led to his serving as president of the Confederate Heights Neighborhood Watch program. Mr Townsend enrolled in the Henrico County Police Division Third Senior Citizens’ Police Academy and the Seniors and Law Enforcement Together organization. Mr. Townsend’s community endeavors include the development of a National Night Out barbeque, hosting a Town Hall meeting in his neighborhood with law enforcement, and organizing a “Community Walk”. In the spring of 2015, Mr. Townsend and other award recipients from across the country will be formally recognized by Director James B. Comey at a ceremony at FBI Headquarters.

We participate in other outreach initiatives and partnerships as well. Visit the below links for more information.
