Genero Espinosa Dorantes Poster

The Federal Bureau of Investigation today announced the addition of Genero Espinosa Dorantes, a convicted felon and alleged murderer, to its "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives" list. Dorantes is being sought for his alleged involvement in the brutal torture and murder of his four-year-old stepson in Tennessee. He should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

During the early morning hours of February 23, 2003, the battered and tortured body of the young victim, a Hispanic male, was discovered by a passing jogger in West Park, a public park in Nashville, Tennessee. It is alleged that Genero Espinosa Dorantes, the stepfather of the victim, inflicted the injuries upon the child and failed to provide proper medical treatment, resulting in his death.

On February 24, 2003, a local arrest warrant was issued by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, charging Dorantes with criminal homicide. Dorantes was subsequently charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution in a federal arrest warrant issued by the United States District Court, District of Nashville, Nashville, Tennessee.

Dorantes may now be traveling to North Carolina, Florida, Texas or Mexico. He is believed to be accompanied by his spouse, Martha L. Cano Patlan, her young daughter, Mariana Cisneros, and their young son, Edgardo Espinosa. Both of these children are thought to be in danger of serious bodily injury or death.

Dorantes is described as a Hispanic male, 5'6", 170 to 180 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was born on June 19, 1970, in Pachusa, Hidalgo, Mexico. He has a scar on his face and a tattoo of a heart on his left arm. Dorantes has a pierced left ear. He may be involved in the transportation of illegal aliens from Mexico into the United States.

Genero Espinosa Dorantes is the 477th person to be placed on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives" list, which was established in 1950. Since then, 447 fugitives have been apprehended or located, 145 of them as a result of citizen cooperation.

A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for any information leading directly to the arrest of Genero Espinosa Dorantes. Individuals with information concerning Dorantes should take no action themselves, but instead immediately contact the nearest office of the FBI or local law enforcement agency. For any possible sighting outside the United States, contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
