Possession of Child Pornography Nets Gold Beach Defendant Federal Prison Sentence

MEDFORD, OR—Jon Christian Primanti, 46, of Gold Beach, Oregon, was sentenced Monday, May 16, 2011, to 97 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography.
The investigation began when agents with the FBI determined that the defendant had downloaded a number of images of child pornography to his computer. Agents received a search warrant for Primanti’s residence and seized several computers as well as floppy discs, CDs, and flash drives. Officers from the Southern Oregon High-Tech Crimes Task Force conducted a forensic investigation on the seized items and found over 1,700 images and 70 videos of child pornography. A number of victims were identified from the pornography as known child victims previously identified by the Center for Exploited or Missing Children.
Senior U.S. District Judge Owen M. Panner sentenced Primanti and, in addition to the prison sentence, ordered him to pay restitution to one of the identified victims in an amount to be determined.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Judith Harper prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the FBI and the Southern Oregon High-Tech Crimes task force.
