FBI Portland Joins National Night Out
FBI special agents, professional staff, and members of the FBI’s Citizens Academy Alumni Association joined with neighbors from all over the Portland area to celebrate the annual National Night Out event on August 6, 2013. The hot summer night brought out big crowds to enjoy the food, fun, and fellowship of our communities.
The FBI joined in the festivities at six locations: McCoy Park/New Columbia Villa (Portland), Peninsula Park/Piedmont Neighborhood (Portland), Vance Park (Gresham/Rockwood), Chapin Park (Oregon City), Fairview Community Park, and Beaverton City Park.
Kids had the opportunity to try on FBI gear while parents were able to pick up safety materials and talk to staff about crime concerns in their neighborhoods.
“Protecting our communities and making sure they are safe for all is as important to us personally as it is professionally,” says Beth Anne Steele, who handles public affairs for the FBI in Oregon. “We not only work here—but we live here, our kids go to school here, and our families call this shared community home, too.”
